The Wokha Village Baptist Church observed a special Father and Man’s Day on November 21, focusing on imparting good teachings, moral values and positive leadership among the men of the village.

Delivering the main message, Dr O James Kithan spoke on the theme of a father’s wisdom, emphasising that God has entrusted fathers with the ability to make sound and discerning decisions.

Expressing concern over the increasing dependence of Gen Z and Gen Alpha on artificial intelligence for guidance, he noted that many young people are drifting away from seeking wisdom from parents and elders calling it a worrying trend.

Kithan highlighted the different kinds of men and fathers found in society, describing the quiet, peace-loving, patient and strong father as an ideal model of leadership. He also spoke of fathers who are honest and bold, those who bear the burdens of others, as well as men who, despite being married with children, live passively without taking responsibility. He further mentioned those who hold the title of father yet avoid decision-making altogether. Urging the participants to reflect on their roles, he called on them to become responsible fathers and good men who bring positive change to their families and communities.

Village elder Longtsu Tungoe, speaking during the programme, reflected on the wisdom of the ancestors, noting that the guidance and contributions of the forefathers had greatly shaped the growth of both the village and the district. He recalled that unity, love and a strong spirit of helping one another defined Wokha Village in earlier days—values that continue to guide and strengthen the community today.

The event also featured a special song titled Life of a Man, composed and performed by Nchumbemo Erui and team, along with a traditional folk song presented by the E-khel elders, adding a rich cultural element to the celebration.
