Women-led JTBLF from Nagaland honoured for National award

Kohima, September 24 (MExN): Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) organised a felicitation programme honouring JTBLF, recipient of the ‘Atmanirbhar Sangathan Awards 2024 as 3rd Best SHG Federation under North-East Region category’ by the Ministry of Rural Development conferred in August 2025. 

The awards honoured these women-led organizations for their efforts in empowering Self-Help Group (SHG) members and fostering self-reliance under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), stated a press release.

In his congratulatory note, Moa Sangtam, Jt Secretary, RD and Mission Director, NSRLM expressed how proud he is of JTBLF being conferred one amongst the 22 outstanding Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) from across India for their contributions to rural transformation, institution building, financial inclusion, livelihoods, and social development in Jakhama Block, Kohima District. 

Drawing on the achievement of JTBLF, he underscored the continued management of community funds and resources judiciously to enhance the quality of life for the SHG households and the broader community. He encouraged them to leverage this success for even greater accomplishments towards 100% Lakhpati households and to remain vigilant against complacency. 

In her gratitude speech, Mengunuo, President of JTBLF, shared how she and many SHG members transitioned from illiteracy to learning to write their names, from poverty and vulnerability to becoming community leaders, and now living with dignity and financial independence. She thanked NSRLM for providing constant handholding support and nurturing the rural community especially women towards self-reliance. 

M Rollan Lotha, Chief Operating Officer, NSRLM, highlighted the crucial role the women-led CLFs plays in economic empowerment, community-led development, and driving self-reliance in rural Nagaland. Moving on, he motivated the JTBLF members to excel their institutions (CLF, VLOs and SHGs) to become a sustainable immersion and learning sites not only for the State, but both nationally and internationally.

The programme was facilitated by Imonenla Imkong Phom, State Program Manager (IBCB/M&E). In her welcome note, she highlighted that this felicitation program was a celebration of achievement and values that define the CLF and its mission in rural Nagaland. 

The event brought together the community leaders from JTBLF and Mission Staff to share in the pride and joy of this remarkable accomplishment. Earlier, the Program Manager-IBCB, Block Program Manager of Jakhama and the JTBLF Manager highlighted the progress of the JTBLF.
