Phek, June 4 (MExN): The career guidance and counselling committee of Phek Government College, Phek organised a one day workshop on career guidance on June 2 in Phek Government College.
The College stated in a press release that the resource persons were Col. R.K Vikram, Commandant, 22 Assam Rifles; Dr. Naieem Mustafa Mansury, IPS, SP, Phek; Shanavas. C., IAS, D.C Phek and Gideon L.Sumi, District Employment Officer, Phek. Dr. Vizovol Mekro, Principal Phek Government College welcomed the resource persons.
Col. R.K Vikram, in his address highlighted the career prospects and avenues in armed forces. He further pointed out that passion and commitment are the key ingredients in pursue of career in Defence services.
Dr. Naieem Mustafa Mansury shared about the challenges and hurdles faced by an aspirant in public service examination especially the civil service examination. He oriented on the different stages of civil service examination and how to prepare for those stages and stressed on the importance of self belief and commitment while preparing for civil service examination. Gideon L. Sumi talked on skill development and its employability in context to skill development in the state. He emphasized that apart from college degree, skills can meet economic and social challenges thereby bridging the gap between education and training.
The final session of the workshop was delivered by Shanavas. C on the career prospects in higher education in public and private sectors. He pointed out that there is a huge scope of career opportunity in private sector especially with India emerging as the largest economy in the sub-continent. He also pointed out that dedication and commitment are the key parameters to achieve ones goals especially in this sector.
The programme was chaired by Merenlemla Jamir, Asst. Prof, Department of Mathematics and vote of thanks was delivered by Mulehu Khesoh, Asst. Prof Department of History and President of PGCTA.
