Workshop on AI in governance held for Nagaland Tribal Department officials

Kohima, May 18 (MExN): A one-day workshop on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology for the staff of the Directorate of Tribal Affairs, Nagaland, was organised by the Tribal Research Institute (TRI) Nagaland on May 18.

The workshop, held in the conference hall of the Directorate of Tribal Affairs, Kohima aimed to enhance digital knowledge, improve efficiency in office work through modern technological tools, and create awareness on the growing role of AI in governance, administration, communication, and data management, according to a DIPR report.

Resource persons Seto Khate, Senior Technical Expert, assisted by Bendang, IT Expert, highlighted basic AI concepts and practical applications in office administration, report writing, drafting official letters, data analysis, presentation preparation, and digital record management. Special emphasis was laid on ethical use of AI, cyber security, and data privacy in government functioning.

Altogether 35 department officials and staff actively participated in hands-on sessions demonstrating AI-enabled applications and digital productivity tools. Participants showed keen interest in adopting technology-driven approaches to improve transparency, accuracy, and timely service delivery.

The keynote address was delivered by K Onglingaku Chang, Project Officer, TRI Nagaland, while Tekhingri Sangtam, Project Assistant, moderated the programme.

The workshop concluded with recommendations to organise similar capacity-building programmes regularly to strengthen digital competency and technological adaptability among government employees.
