Tuensang, January 8 (MExN): The 54th General Conference of the Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) got underway on January 7 hosted by Sotokur Village under Tuensang district.
Reverend Fr Loyola Anthony, Parish Priest, St Augustine Parish Chessore blessed and dedicated the 4 day-long conclave on introductory evening while S Yansomong Yimchunger, President YAA declared open the conference on January 7, stated a press release from S Thsankiu, Press & Information Secretary, YAA.
The 54th General Conference Monolith was unveiled by N Bangkhao Konyak, Advisor, DUDA Nagaland in the presence of Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) President Kekongchim Yimchunger, Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) General Secretary, Laji Luyanba and a host of Sotokur Village Council members and village elders.
Speaking on the occasion as the special guest at the inaugural session on January 8, Konyak urged the students to be role models by overcoming all the challenges in life. He said that peace is the foremost and the pre-requisite condition for all round development.
The Advisor called upon all to maintain peaceful and congenial atmosphere both within and with the neighbors as well. He urged the students to be proactive to usher in all round progress and development, and further advised them to identify and follow one’s own passion while choosing the right profession.
ENPO President, Yimchunger exhorted the students to work hard and to obtain quality education. Lamenting that anyone can obtain a degree certificate, he stressed on the need to acquire degree with knowledge and wisdom.
YTC General Secretary, Luyanba mentioned that there are only two ways in life, i.e. good and bad, and thus advised the students to choose the right path.
Rev Akhang, Sotokur Baptist Church pronounced invocation and M Bumbakiu, Chassir Baptist Church offered benediction prayer. About 3000 delegates from the entire Yimchungrü inhabited towns and villages are attending the 4 day-long conclave which will culminate on January 10.
Earlier in the program, President YAA, Yimchunger offered welcome address while L Khumrito and T Chimrila presented songs. The program was compered by Hanshila M Khiphur and Tsusokhiung, while vote of thanks was proposed by Keyoungkhum Vice President, YAA.
