YI Nagaland delegation visits to Myanmar
YI (Young Indians) Nagaland chapter team with others during their visit to Myanmar from November 12 to 17.
Dimapur, November 25 (MExN): YI (Young Indians) Nagaland chapter visited Myanmar from November 12 to 17 on an international exposure and interaction trip.
A press note stated that the group comprised of members of Young Indians (Yi) Nagaland Chapter led by Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor to the Government of Nagaland (IT&C, Science and Technology, New and Renewable Energy) in his capacity as Chapter Mentor and an ex Chapter Chair of Yi (Nagaland).
The objective of the visit was to learn more about the economic, cultural, industrial and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Myanmar and to explore cross-border business.
The delegation called upon the Indian Embassy in Yangon and met with Dr Sumit Seth, the Deputy Chief of Mission in Myanmar, who gave a detailed description of the history, political and cultural aspects and business opportunities in Myanmar, especially in the context of India. He went further to organize a B2B meet a few days later for the visiting delegation with business groups such as the India Myanmar Chamber of Commerce (IMCC), banks such as SBI and EXIM Bank and various sector specific business people such as from the Education sector, Food Processing, IT and the Energy Sector.
The Embassy of India in Myanmar has promised all assistance in any future visits by individuals or groups from Nagaland. During the 5 day visit, the delegation also visited various factories such as the GGI Woodworking factory, the Gems Museum and the i-Land Industrial Park in Bago.
The delegation also met with Myanmar entrepreneurs such as members of the Myanmar Young Entrepreneurs Alliance and visited the Myanmar Entrepreneurship Summit in Yangon. Medo Putsure (co-chair Yi Nagaland) commented that “it is important that we start acting on the act east policy and connecting and strengthening ties is the first step”.
Young Indians is an integral part of the confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a non-government, not-for- profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization playing a proactive role in India’s development process.
