YMC Dimapur conducts drug awareness prog

DIMAPUR, MARCH 22 (MExN): The Red Ribbon Club of Yemhi Memorial College organized an awareness programme under the theme “Be Happy, Be Brave, Be Drug Free” on March 16 in the college conference hall with B Rai, Assistant Professor, Department of English as the resource person.
The resource person B Rai delivered a message on the theme and emphasis on mental health, associating positive aspects and negative aspects for contentment. She stressed on the value of relationships, asked people to be grateful, to cultivate and pursue their passions and confront their fears. She also spoke on the need to say no to bad companions.
The programme was chaired by Hanluchi of BA 4th semester by highlighting the order of the programme, followed by invocation led by Toshika, President EU. Kinivi K Awomi delivered the welcome note.
A drama on drug abusers being affected by HIV through sharing of syringes was performed by Senchumlo Shitio & friends portraying the message on prevention of HIV and AIDS through this act, followed by special number by Kavitoli Swu of BA 6th semester.
It concluded with the distribution of prize to the winners of Poetry and Song writing competition by S Kossam Konyak, Nodal Officer RRC, YMC. Orenvungo Bendang of BA 6th semester and T Bechung Khamba of BA 2nd semester were the winner and the runner up of the poetry competition. Chubasashi Aier of BA 4th semester was the winner of the song writing competition.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Chimkiumong B of BA 4th semester.
