Youth empowerment prog held in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, December 8 (MExN): The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Mokokchung conducted a workshop on youth empowerment at the Library Hall, Mongsenyimti village under Chuchuyamlang block on December 5.  

The Government of India with the objective of building new India by youth force provided opportunity to the youth to discover their potentials and become a stake holder to development process.  

Sanen, the Programe Coordinator, 'Youth with a Mission' spoke on the occasion. John Makhabo, DYC, NYK, Mokokchung, highlighted the aims and objectives of the youth empowerment for New India.  

He said that every youth should start entrepreneurship after taking training to qualify himself or herself so that they become a professional in their respective fields that they undertake. He said that the training programme was conducted with a view to help young people translate knowledge, develop appropriate attitudes and inculcate values that would help them acquire the ability to be an effective entrepreneurs with proper qualities and values to develop own community.  

He also dealt at length the characteristics of an entrepreneurs like risk taker, innovative, sense of efficacy, work for excellence, development of leadership, pleasing personality, dedication, self confidence, result oriented, and search for recognition etc. He also highlighted on the achievements of North East Youths and spoke on Forbes list of great entrepreneurs of our times.  

Sanen took sessions on effective communication skills, and how to build self- esteem. He called upon the youth to be a leader who is effective in communication as one has to be a good teacher working with the community. He also said that self esteem is the reputation that a person requires with himself/ herself.  

He called upon the youth to “accept yourself, your family, your background accept your past; but don’t live in your past! You are unique. Your Uniqueness is the best gift you can give to the World.”
