Zhavame Day- strengthening relationship among villagers

Zhavame community from different parts of the state today converged at Zhavame village for two-day long first Zhavame Day. Zhavame lies around 8 KM from Pfütsero town under Phek district.
Nagaland’s Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu graced the occasion as the special guest. Kronu unveiled the monolith marking the first Zhavame Day.
Kronu maintained that Zhavame is a popular village and people know Zhavame as hardworking village. This village has also been declared as vegetable village and horti produces are widely supply to Dimapur, Kohima and other parts of the state.
Kronu stressed on the need to maintain good relationship with the neighboring villages. He also stressed on the need to must preserve and protect forest and wildlife. Kronu encouraged the villagers to take up coffee plantation as Nagaland has potential to produce grade-A coffee, which can fetch a good market and boost the economy of the state.
Stating the Zhavame possesses high potential in tourism industry, Kronu encouraged the villagers to exercise good hospitality and continue to promote the rich culture and traditions. He observed that trekking routes needs to be developed along Kapamadzu to attract both domestic and international tourists. He assured to fund construction of tourist guest House.
Ex-minister Deo Nukhu in his address lauded the reconciliation programme organized by the village recently, which strengthened the spirit of oneness and unity of the community.
While appreciating the various initiative of the Zhavame Students’ Union, Nukhu also advised the union to focus on village sanitation and environment conservation.
Zhavame village council chairman Vivotso Domeh in his address informed that the Zhavame Day celebration was part of the village resolution and it would henceforth celebrate after every five years.
He said that Zhavame Day has been initiated to strengthen relationship among villagers and to reason together and march together for all round development.

Sspecial numbers was presented by Zhavame Union Kohima and Zhavame Union Phek.
The formal programme was followed by Zhavame Day feast and competitions like pounding of soaked rice, traditional sound making, bamboo climbing, pounding and winnowing of rice, Lalü and Tsü Khao Chin.
On day 2 (January 7), the programme will start from 9:00 AM onwards. Deo Movi, president Zhavame Union Kohima will chair the function. Special numbers will be presented by Zhavame Union Dimapur and Zhavame Union Pfütsero. Competition for day two will be in the form of folk dance, mokaki, Lütru, Pithao thao, Athrü, Mokei, Zaoli and Pfüsholü. Vote of thanks will be proposed by Zhavame VDB secretary Tho-o Shupao. After Zhavame Day feast, extravaganza night will take place from 5:00 PM onwards.
