In his welcome address, the President, Visa Meru expressed gratitude to all members of the ZPO, Kohima and the Zeliang community residents of Kohima for proving themselves worthy of their name in spite of so much upheaval in recent times.

“We are expectant of working out positive change in our society because we have proven ourselves; never wavered in test of time and today, according to the faith and hope we have upon the Almighty God, we are able to see the horizon brightening up and even the mindset of our people changing from the unwanted to the sought after,” he said.

In the meeting, the General Secretary presented the up-to-date record of its activities. The House approved the report of the search committee constituting the new executive body to be headed for another term by Visa Meru as President. It further deliberated on all pertinent issues being undertaken by the ZPO, Kohima.

On the uncertainty over the spread of COVID-19, the house decided to appeal to the district administration of Peren to monitor three vulnerable entry-points to Peren district namely: Peren-Maram Road (Manipur); Khelma-Kepere Bazaar (Assam); and Ntu-Tamei Road (Manipur).

It also expressed concern at the “frequent unguarded movements of non-local drivers and machinery operators” involved in timber and logging activities as well as other businesses.

It was also decided that the local masses would be sensitised with regard to precautionary measures.
