ZSUN flays NC Hills violence

Dimapur, May 20, (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union of Nagaland condemns what it stated today is the “repeated atrocities” of armed Dimasa militants against Zeliangrong in Assam’s North Cachar Hills. The ZSUN in a note today said the Zeliangrong community in Assam is suffering but will not remain silent for long when they are mistreated as aliens in their own land. The ZSUN said innocent villagers have been killed while houses and properties have been razed by Dimasa militants. Referring to the DHD’s declaration to turn NC Hills into “Dimasa Hasu Raji” (‘Kingdom of the Dimasa’), the union said the Zeliangrong people have every right to defend their ancestral lands. The land the Zeliangrong live in rightly belongs to the community, the union said. The law-enforcing authorities are urged to ensure safety and security of the innocent citizens from the armed militants. ‘Failure to do so would compel the Zeliangrong people not to remain a silent spectator when their own brothers and sisters are being treated as aliens in their own land’ the union said.
