ZSUN highlights several issues concerning schools under DEO Peren

Peren, November 12 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) today highlighted some concerning issues in schools under the establishment of DEO Peren which were detected during surprise school inspection by the union.

Among others, the ZSUN said it was ‘upset’ that some teachers, who are the backbone and the role model of the society, are taking advantage over the prevailing COVID-19 situation and “absconding” from schools.

While appreciating the teachers who have been rendering their service during the pandemic, the union flayed ‘absconding teachers’ and cautioned it will not tolerate such action.

Despite the guidelines of the Department, it is upsetting seeing the practice of keeping substitutes teachers which is still visible, further stated the ZSUN in a press release issued by its President Dithuibo Newmai and General Secretary Adona Herie.

In this connection, it requested the concerned department to look into the matter, so that such practices are eliminated in the near future.

The ZSUN office also expressed concern over the poor performance of Government Institute across the District despite qualified teachers and called for dedication and sincerity.

Meanwhile, the union also expressed shock to discover that the GHS Azailong was functioning with only 3 graduate teachers despite its up-gradation from Government Middle School to Government High School HS in 2010.

The Department of the School Education is requested to look into the matter and come up with necessary arrangement so that the student community is not affected, ZSUN said.

It further drew DoSE’s attention to the pathetic condition of district Head Office DEO Peren, which it maintained, was functioning without proper facilities.

It directly or indirectly affects the process of rendering the service by the officers and teachers as well as the student community of the district, it added.
