Zunheboto, August 20 (MExN): The ban on single-use plastic (SUP) carry bags, irrespective of their micron thickness, has been reiterated across Zunheboto district by Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Task Force, Dharam Raj.
In an order issued in continuation of the earlier office order dated August 1, 2024, Raj stated that the ban on all single-use plastic carry bags and single-use plastic bottles used for packaging water and soft drinks below one litre would continue throughout the district.
Penalties, as decided by the District Task Force, will be imposed on violators for the first and second offences. For subsequent offences, the permit or licence of the defaulting establishment will be liable for cancellation.
As per the State DIPR, the district administration urged establishments, traders and members of the public to comply with the order and support efforts to reduce plastic waste and maintain a cleaner environment in Zunheboto.
