Nagaland Minister for Tourism, Temjen Imna Along today claimed that last year’s edition of the Hornbill Festival generated revenue of Rs 109 Crores. This figure, according to the Minister, was as per expenditure analysis conducted by a Science College research team, and inclusive of revenue generated from events in Kohima and Dimapur. He also informed that the expenditure incurred in organizing last year’s festival was Rs 5 Crores.
Interacting with media persons in Kohima on November 24, the Minister said that the cost for organizing this year’s festival would be informed later. The Minister said that for this year, the department’s statistical team is going to perform a proper analysis from the beginning.
He also informed that with a lot of vertical changes happening, the department intends to make Kisama into a ‘truly heritage village,’ with focus on more traditional aspects. These changes, he said, would be seen in the days to come.
While stating that it is impractical to fix a certain price for foodstalls, the Minister said the department would make sure that no exorbitant rates are charged. He said owners of the food stalls have been thoroughly briefed to make sure that the price lists are placed on the board in every stall, and also to use biodegradable products.
