11 Naga boys rescued from Pune – Reports

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): About 11 Naga boys abandoned in Pune by a job tout are said to have been rescued by the Naga Students’ Union of Pune around Thursday, July 28. According to posts on social networking site, Facebook, the boys are aged from 16 years and over.
They were brought to Maharashtra allegedly by a man from Wokha district who had promised the boys lucrative jobs in Maharashtra. The “agent” took their money, belongings and fled from the scene leaving the boys in the outskirts of Pune with no money or food, discussions on the networking site said.
The boys are understood to have managed to travel to Pune by train and called up the Naga students’ union of Pune. The president of the union is said to have been the children in his small flat in Pune and taking care of these boys, a Naga professional living in Mumbai stated. The students’ union also booked for the boys, tickets to Dimapur and has informed the authorities of the case.
Available information from an administrator of a Naga page on Facebook said on Sunday, July 31 that he met the boys the previous night. The children are leaving on Kolkata Kamrup at 5:30 PM, Monday for Dimapur, the source informed.
Leaders of the Naga students’ in Pune were contacted by this daily to confirm the matter. A student leader referred to the union’s president but he was unavailable for interaction at the time of filing this news report.
