As part of goodwill gesture, the 1st Assam Rifles based in Kohima today donated chairs and tables to Officers’ Hill (Thegabakha) Colony Panchayat, Kohima.
In his presence at the function jointly organized by Officers’ Hill Colony Panchayat and 1st Assam Rifles, MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro thanked 1st Assam Rifles led by Commandant Col Umesh Sati for extending such materials to the colony. “May this goodwill gesture continue to grow even in days to come,” he said.
Officers’ Hill Colony Council (OHCC) chairman Khrielakuo Sekhose said that realizing the needs and requirements of the colony community hall, Col Umesh Sati has been generous in donating necessary tables and chairs.
Thejao Sekhose, President, Association of Kohima Municipal Ward Panchayat (AKMWP), Kohima said that there are 19 wards, having 56 colonies in Kohima. He also thanked 1st Assam Rifles for extending such goodwill gesture towards the Officers’ Hill Colony. Another representative from AKMWP wanted to see that such goodwill gesture, also extended to other colonies as well.
OHCC advisor Lalthara, former Chief Secretary of Nagaland acknowledged 1st Assam Rifles for the “good work” they have done to the Panchayat. Also stating that there is a feeling of comradeship amongst the residents of Officers’ Hill colony, he called for strengthening the spirit of team work and cooperation for the welfare and progress of the colony.
In his speech, Col Sati assured that the Battalion would be happy to extend help to other colonies as well. He also stated that the 1st Assam Rifles is looking forward to help the youth and students of the colony.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by OHCC general secretary Alemwapang Ao while vote of thanks was proposed by Shepo Hiesuh, assistant general secretary OHCC.
