The seized cases of assorted liquor at Kukidolong NH-29 on March 4.
Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): In a major haul of illegal liquor smuggling, the MVCP duty party of the 37th Assam Rifles recovered 540 cases of assorted liquor on March 4 at Kukidolong NH-29 from an unregistered mini truck. In this connection, three accused persons namely Md Aya Khan, Md Imran Khan and Das were arrested.
All the seized articles along with the accused and the vehicle were handed over to the excise department. A case has been registered under the NLTP Act 1989 and further investigation is on.
“The vigilant efforts of the 37th Assam Rifles leading to a major haul of illegal liquor post election is highly appreciated,” stated Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, Lanuwati Jamir in a press release.
