‘6 to 7 Ha of govt forest land encroachment in Mokokchung’

Mokokchung, June 22 (MExN): Briefing the Circle Level Committee Meeting on Encroachment of Forest Land meeting, Dr Sentitula (IFS), Member Secretary cum DFO Mokokchung highlighted the status of forest land including the purchased land, donated or allotted land and protected land in the District. The district has 460234 Ha of purchased land, 9.02 Ha of donated or allotted land and 420.36 Ha of protected forest. “The district has approximately 6 to 7 Ha of encroachment,” she informed the house during the meeting held at Marepkong Forest Office, Mokokchung on June 22.

A press release stated that Chairman of the Committee under Mokokchung, Rongsenlemla (IFS), highlighted the Government notification for constitution of Forest Circle Level Committee to check encroachers from Government forest land. 

The meeting discussed on various issues such as joint inspection of forest Purchased land, Circle Level Committee to be held in various sub-divisions.

Vishal Chauhan (IPS) Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung discussed on the importance of Forest Conservation, creative ways of conserving land. Dharam Raj (IAS), SDO (Civil) Mokokchung discussed on the importance of digitisation of forest lands. 

The meeting was attended by I Sashilemla, RO Mokokchung, Moamongba, BO Changtongya and Odibendang, RO Longtho.
