Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) Sunday School curriculum was released on January 28 at Impur.

Mokokchung, January 30 (MExN): The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) Sunday School curriculum titled ‘Salvation Story’ for Grades 1-15 was released on January 28 by ABAM Executive Secretary Rev Dr Mar Pongener.
According to a press release on Sunday, the curriculum was released at Impur in the presence of around 400 members from 115 local churches comprising of Associate Pastors (Christian Education) and Sunday School teachers.
The release stated that since 1878 when Mary Mead, with a transformative vision, started Sunday schools in the local churches, ABAM has been using resources from different Christian publications. But in 2016, during the ABAM General Council, the house resolved to have an original Sunday school curriculum based on which the Literature & Education Ministry, ABAM took the initiative with Chubatemjen, Coordinator, Sunday school, ABAM, spearheading a team of 16 member writers.
The release stated that the curriculum was written in three perspectives—text, context, and tradition, to serve maximal approach for all age groups. ABAM is immensely pleased to have an original Sunday school curriculum from 2022, and we owe a lot to all individuals involved in this project, it said. “As the local churches begin to use the new curriculum from now on, we look forward to seeing many changes in the lives of the believers,” the release stated.
Delivering a welcome note during the release programme, T Apok Jamir, Secretary, Literature & Education, ABAM, said that Sunday school is the heart of the church, and so, Sunday school teachers need to consider themselves special and teach with dedication.
Several others including Alice Walling, an associate pastor for Christian Education, Kohima Ao Baptist Church, Anungba Imsong, Pastor, Medziphema Town Ao Baptist Church, and Rev Dr Mar Pongener also spoke during the programme. They emphasised on the importance of Sunday school programmes and the roles that Sunday School teachers have in leading children down the right paths.
“ABAM also expresses our gratitude to Changtongya Town Baptist Church Christian Education Ministry for leading the praise and worship and Tuli Lenten Baptist Church Christian Education Ministry for doing the work of stewardship,” the release stated.
