DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 21 (MExN): The Chang Tribal Council (CTC) has written to all Chang village councils not to participate in the upcoming State Hornbill Festival in view of the ENPO resolution dictating the same. A press release from the CTC informed that this decision was taken by the ENPO CEC meeting on October 14 "considering the hardships faced by the participants from Eastern Nagaland region every year.” The ENPO had unanimously resolved to abstain from participation in the State Hornbill Festival at Kisama, Kohima from 2022 onwards.
However the State Government has been requested through the ENLU to promote the Mini Hornbill Festival of the respective tribes. The CEC meanwhile reaffirmed that no Chang organization/individuals from any village shall participate in the State Hornbill Festival honoring the ENPO CEC resolution. “As such, the village councils are hereby directed to disseminate this resolution to every organization/citizen of their respective village,” it informed. In case of violation of this resolution the Chang apex bodies will initiate stern action against the defaulting village councils/individuals, it added.
