DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): The 4th Biennial Youth Conference of the Association of Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland (AGBCN) commenced on October 11 at the WSBAK Millennium Hall, Daniel Village, Doyapur, under the theme “Growing Stronger and Reaching Higher.” The three-day event has drawn over 500 delegates and officials representing 54 Gorkha Baptist Churches and fellowships across Nagaland.

The conference opened with an evening session, where the Gorkha Baptist Church Diphupar Youth Department performed the opening ceremony, and the Nepali Baptist Church Tuensang Youth Department led the worship. K. Nifato Chishi, Secretary of the Department of Youth Ministry WSBAK, delivered the opening sermon, addressing behavioral challenges among young people. He urged the Gorkha youths to place their faith in God and to take responsibility for their actions rather than blaming others or society. Chishi encouraged the youth to remain grounded in Christ, to grow in maturity, and to embody the theme by strengthening their faith and aiming higher in their lives.

Dr. Gopal Basnet, Council Chairman of AGBCN, also addressed the gathering. He noted that Christian Gorkha youths in Nagaland are becoming stronger in Christ and encouraged them to stay alert, as they represent the future. Basnet called on the youth to be a resilient support system for their communities.

The evening featured special song performances by the Nepali Baptist Church Zubza and the Gorkha Baptist Church Piphema. Shishir Lama, Youth Secretary of AGBCN, extended a warm welcome to attendees, while Suresh Thapa, Youth Pastor of Nepali Baptist Church Kiphire, chaired the session. Pastor Daniel Biswakarma, Camp Director of the conference, also conducted an orientation session for the participants.

A total of 37 Gorkha Baptist churches from across Nagaland are participating in the conference, which will run until October 13, hosted by the AGBCN Youth Department.
