Mokokchung | December 14

Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM), the apex students organization of the Ao Nagas said today that the two Members of Parliament from Nagaland in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha should quit as they no longer have the moral right to represent the people of Nagaland in the parliament after they voted in favor of the Citizenship Amendment Bill recently.

AKM President Imkongwati while addressing a press conference press in his office chamber today after successfully imposing the 6-hour bandh called by the Naga Students' Federation in Mokokchung district said that the two MPs should resign on moral grounds.

They have "sold out the rights of the people they represent" when they voted in favor of the contentious bill, he added.

Saturday’s 6-hour bandh from 6:00am to 12 noon in all Naga inhabited areas passed peacefully without any untoward incidents.

The bandh was called by NSF to show resentment against the passing of Citizenship Amendment Bill.
