Akumen Village Council clarifies

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 12 (MExN): The Akumen Village Council has issued a clarification regarding reports concerning the alleged rape of a 4-year-old girl in Saring village on August 10.

The accused, identified as one Moakaba, claimed to be from Akumen village, which the council has refuted in their statement.

In the press release, the council clarified, "The accused is not originally from Akumen village. His father is Late Thapa (Nepali), and only his mother hails from Akumen village." The Akumen Village Council expressed strong condemnation of the crime, describing it as "inhuman and heinous." The council stated that such acts "cannot be tolerated in this civilized society" and expressed their prayers for the victim and her family during this painful time.

They called for "speedy recovery physically, mentally, and emotionally" for the child. Moreover, the council demanded that law enforcement "award the severest punishment to such criminal" and indicated that they would "initiate appropriate punishment to the accused for tarnishing the reputation of the Akumen Village Council."
