Alleged abuse of minors: Longwa VC demands befitting punishment

Longwa, November 8 (MExN): The Longwa Village Council (LVC) has appealed appeal the law enforcing authority to award “befitting punishment” to both culprits involved in the alleged torture of three minors recently in Dimapur.   The three minors hail from Longwa village, under Mon district.

In a press release issued by its Chairman C Noklem Konyak and Secretary Longhi, the LWC condemned the “inhumane act meted upon innocent minors act” allegedly by Ronica Miachie-o and Amos Ezung, and urged for the befitting punishment.

Only such action by the law enforcing authority “will give us a slight feeling of justice for what they have done to our children,” it said.

The Council also cautioned against “bailing out of the culprits at any cost” without consulting the offices of Konyak Union Dimapur, Phomching Area Union Dimapur, Longwa Village Council and Longwa Students’ Union.

“The culprits must serve the full term of imprisonment they had earned.  In case of freeing the culprits prior to the fixed period of imprisonment, we will not stand as mere spectators but will be compelled to show our resentment through actions,”it added.

The LVC also expressed hope that “every parent and every Naga people will continue to stand with us in this regard, given the heinous crime the culprits have committed.”

Meanwhile, the Council conveyed its appreciation tothe Dimapur Police, Child Welfare Committee Dimapur, Konyak Union Dimapur, Phomching Area Union Dimapur, Wayen Union Dimapur, Press, different YouTube handles, organisations and individuals who contributed or played a role in tracking down the main accused.

It further acknowledged the Eden Hospital Authority for treating the injured minors for free.
