Almost everyone in the category of healthcare workers (HCWs) in Nagaland have been vaccinated, as per the information on the State COVID-19 WarRoom’s Dashboard.

According to the Dashboard, the targeted HCWs beneficiaries in Nagaland are 16,062, out of which 15,996 or 99.58% have received their 1st dose as of September 30, while 13262 (or 82.56%) are fully vaccinated.

Vaccination figure for October 3 put the 2nd dose figure of HCWs at 13265 (or 82.56%).

The figure seems unusual for regular observer as till recently the Department of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW) was putting the figure of total targeted HCWs at 25,339.

Accordingly, as per the previous DoHFW’s data, HCWs receiving 1st dose vaccine would be only 63.1%

On July 9, The Morung Express in a report had highlighted that the vaccination number for two ‘key populations’ still remained stagnant and may have implications for the future – vaccination among HCWs and those above 60 years and above.

The 1st dose figure then for HCWs was 15,847 or 62.5%.

When contacted regarding the cutting down of the targeted HCWs beneficiaries, the State Immunisation Officer, Dr Ritu Thurr attributed it to the streamlining of data at CO-WIN portal.

In the earlier stage, there were many instances of double entry during earlier registration and the data were not streamlined, he said. Again, others like AWWs (Anganwadi Workers), under different department were also entered as HCWs, he said.

Many just registered without thinking it over and a number of AWWs have also been vaccinated in the general population too, a health official also told this newspaper in July.

Accordingly, Dr Thurr informed that after the streamlining, all double entry as well as other errors were ‘archived’ from the CO-WIN portal.
He noted that the present figure of 16,062 includes 10,000-plus beneficiaries from the DoHFW and the rest are HCWs working in private establishments.

As per the streamlined figure on the State COVID-19 WarRoom’s Dashboard, the coverage of vaccination among frontline workers (FLWs) has also been enhanced. It informed that a total of 60,935 FLWs out of targeted 61,209 have received their 1st dose signifying 99% coverage. The earlier targeted figure for FLWs was 78,738.

Full vaccination coverage just 28.30% till Oct 3
Meanwhile, as per the update from the DoHFW, a total of 10,65,962 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administrated in Nagaland. Out of this, 6,90,144 are 1st dose, while the remaining 3,75,818 are second dose.

The target number for all the categories of eligible beneficiaries is 1,327,916.

Accordingly, as of October 3, 51.97% of targeted eligible beneficiaries have received their 1st dose, while just 28.30% of them are fully vaccinated in Nagaland.
