Kohima, September 30 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has said that the continued stalemate between the All Nagaland Ad-hoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) batch of 2015 and the State Government should be resolved at the earliest, in the interest of the student community.
A day after the teachers under the banner of ANATG announced that it would change their mode of protest to an ‘indefinite hunger strike,’ the NSF appealed to the teachers to “re-consider their mode of protest against the Government’s inaction while not compromising the teaching-learning process.”
This decision, coming after four continuous days of silent sit-in protest, does not augur well for the students’ community who are already deprived of their day-to-day learning due to the absence of the teachers from their place of posting due to the ongoing agitation, the NSF President, Kegwayhun Tep and Secretary (Education), Medovi Rhi stated in a press release on Friday.
Meanwhile, the NSF opined that the concerned authorities have been “treading lightly on the issue” and aggravating the situation with the students’ community at the receiving end.
“The Federation appeals to the Government of the day and also the department concerned to objectively look into the matter and bring about the desired solution without further delay,” it added.
The ANATG protest began on September 26 with 1166 teachers whose appointments were made in between 1995-2012, against state sanctioned posts on ad-hoc basis, seeking regularisation of service.
