Angami Catholic Women Association 22nd general conference underway

The 22nd general conference of the Angami Catholic Women Association (ACWA) got underway at St Paul Church, Phesama village on January 17.
Very Rev Fr Neisalhou Carolus Koutsu, Vicar General Kohima Diocese & Spiritual Director ACWA speaking on the theme “Bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ” Galatians 6:2 expounded that human as a social being and as a basic nature of human is bound to live together through the covenant.
While exploring the significance of helping others, the Rev said that it points towards a “the call of a Christian” that encompasses all aspects of spiritual, psychological and social endowment and commitment. He said, “Man is bind with the burden of sin, family and the burden of guilt and shame. These burdens which befall the human or anyone at any stage of life should not be despised but sympathised and cared.” As a biblical reference, he said, “Jesus worked among the poor and needy” and added that Jesus has taught us to be compassionate in our ways.
In the practical context, helping one another as Christians and bearing each other's burden can be through “Praying for others, and to abide and obey the covenants of the Bible.”
Pondering on why family responsibility has been considered a burden or why homes have become unhappy, he added that progress, materialism or technology are factors of making the younger generation more lax and secluded.
He also pointed out the application of reading the Bible within the family system is a source of spiritual nourishment to the self and a means of strengthening relationship. The Rev also stated that this year is being dedicated to “Reading the word” which he called all family to take opportune. He further added that all versus in the Bible is a word of teaching and stated that one need to explore those teachings in our daily life while applying it in our practical lives.
The programme was chaired by Thinuoheü Teresa, Vice President, Angami Catholic Women Association and welcome message was delivered by Ketholese Anthony.
In the following sessions, the speakers are Rev. Fr Vimedo Joseph Kezo, Director, Men's Hostel, St. Joseph's College (autonomous); Rev. Fr. Arul Susai, Parish Priest, St Paul Parish, Phesama; Rev. Sr. Medokuonuo Margaret Sekhose, MSMHC Headmistress, St. Paul High School, Majuli Island, Assam; V Lucas Meyase, Rtd. Director School Education; Rev. Fr. Keduoneilie Alex Vizo, Parish Priest & Chairman, St Joseph School, Longleng; Rev Fr. Dr Keduolhou George Dzeyie, Vice Principal, St Joseph's College (Autonomous) Jakhama. Meanwhile, Bishop of Kohima Diocese: Nagaland will be the main speaker on Sunday.
The first day of the conference had 984 member attendance.
