ANPSA Phek unit hosts Cultural Meet 2026, celebrates heritage

Pfutsero, May 1 (MExN): The All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA), Phek Unit, in collaboration with the Kalos Society, organised its Cultural Meet 2026 at Nazareth Higher Secondary School, Pfutsero on April 30, drawing around 400 participants, including students, teachers, society members and public leaders.

The event, themed “Cultural Roots and Rhythm: Celebrating our Heritage,” commenced with a formal programme led by ANPSA Phek Unit general secretary Khenenle Semy.

ANPSA Phek Unit president Thepuhu Thira delivered the welcome address, while the invocation was offered by advisor Savino Kezho Zhimo. A special presentation by Anuri Nienu and his associate captivated the audience, followed by greetings from Kalos Society director Kupelhi Losou.

Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Khezhakeno and Zuketsa, Wetsho Lasushe, attended the programme as the guest speaker. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage and shared insights aligned with the theme. He also extended financial support to the ANPSA Phek Unit.

A major highlight of the meet was a folk tune competition, with participation from 24 schools across various categories. The competition was judged by Hüshezülü Khamo, Zheitshüte Lasushe and Leakhru Dominic Shupao.

In the Double Quartet with Tati (senior category), Chakhesang Mission Higher Secondary School, Pfutsero, secured the first position along with a cash prize of Rs 4,000 and citation, followed by Baptist Mission School, Phek (Rs 3,500), and Tewelhi Medo Tyrannus School, Pfutsero (Rs 2,500).

In the Quarter with Tati (junior category), Chakhesang Mission Higher Secondary School, Pfutsero, again secured the top position (Rs 3,000), followed by Spero School, Thenyizu (Rs 2,500), and Baptist School, Pfutsero (Rs 1,500).

In the Duet (sub-junior category), Spero School, Thenyizu, won the first prize (Rs 2,500), followed by Eastern Christian School, Chozuba (Rs 1,500), and Woodland Christian School, Pfutsero (Rs 1,000).
Citations were awarded to all participants and participating schools.

The organisers expressed gratitude to prize donors, including Vetanülü Demo, Officer on Special Duty in the Technical and Higher Education Department; Vilatou Kapfo, entrepreneur and public leader; Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director of Samagra School Education; and Daniel Domeh, System Administrator at the Office of the Director of Postal Services, Nagaland.

The association also acknowledged the financial support of MLA Neisatuo Mero and former cabinet minister Neiba Kronu for their continued support.

The programme was compered by Ruth Zholia and Abigail Kapfo, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Kudezo Vero, assistant general secretary of ANPSA Phek Unit. The benediction was pronounced by Fr Cyprian Francis Lobo, advisor of the association.
