Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): The Assam Rifles (AR) battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized various events across Nagaland on March 13. 

The Kiphire Battalion of AR organised an awareness forum and interactive session with ex-servicemen, widows and veer naries of army, AR and other CAPFs from Kiphire district. 

A press release issued by HQ IGAR (North) said that the event was organised as part of the outreach initiative to connect with the ex-servicemen, address their grievances and take corrective actions on priority to alleviate their sufferings. Lectures on employment avenues to their wards as well as financial management were also conducted. A total of 10 ex-servicemen and widows attended the event.

At Mimi village, the Kiphire Battalion installed solar street lights. The release stated that addressing the long desired requirement of the border village, the unit under the civic action programme installed three solar street light systems at key locations of the village thereby providing them with uninterrupted light at all times. 

The Mokokchung Battalion distributed various sports kits and equipment to budding young talent from Mokokchung district. “The gesture will inculcate a love for sports and also nurture the local talent and youth in particular. The initiative will go a long way in inspiring and nurturing the young aspiring and promising sportsmen to do well in various sports discipline in future,” the IGAR (N) release stated. 

Ghaspani Battalion of AR conducted a workshop on women empowerment at Community Hall Bungsang village, Dimapur district.

The AR personal conducted lectures, meetings and interaction with the local woman folk in the village during the day. Aspects on women empowerment and various entry schemes in security forces were deliberated upon. A total of 25 women attended the lecture.
