Are Naga leaders listening to the voices of the younger Naga generation?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say: 18
•    Yes, They are listening. It's not like they will listen or change overnight. They sure are listening and Nagaland is changing for better, even though the pace is slow. Only in recent years we have been airing our views and shouting from the top of our lungs, we didn't do that 20 years back. Imagine if we had been like that 20 years back, so vociferous and vocal.
•    Some of the leaders have empathy with the young Naga generation. But maybe they too are marginalized within their own government, party or organization. This is the problem. We are functioning in a patriarchal system that has no room for young people. The system needs to be changed. So while some leaders do genuinely care for the younger generation, they seem helpless as well.
•    Yes, But the attitude should not be that of a prodigal child, only to regret later. Political issues should be expressed after much research and analysis.
•    Not all the leaders are the same. Individuals have their own conviction and stand. And they believe this is for the good of the younger generation. In economic aspect there should entrepreneurship development programs on a war footing, not just seminars but practical hands' on trainings for food production. Politically, the younger generation must get directly involve and learn to articulate the different issues before the world without prejudice.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say: 151
•    They are killing one another in spite of the call of the people for unity and peace.
•    The Naga leaders tend to listen to only those who can also help them. For instance, leaders tend to believe that during elections, the younger generation has no role to play, because the elders in the village decide for them. So in this case, the leaders believe they is no use to listen to the younger generation. I think it is high time that the younger generation mobilize to become a political force so that the leaders cannot ignore them anymore.
•    They think of only about themslves.
•    No. Absolutely not! Naga society is ruled by the older generation. Be it in the Religious, political (both overground and underground) or other Non Governmental Organisations. And they are comfortable sitting in their armed chairs and some, their wheel chairs doing what they think is right. Approaching to every event with their thinkings that has not grown since the 50s or the 60s. Not heeding to what the present generation really needs. Well, if they did listened to the younger generation, our society would have been way ahead in every field and we would have been better off than what we are now. Because the younger Naga generation are better equipped than them. And i can firmly state too, that we are mentally more mature than the old Bapus and Bapis.
•    No, when we speak something innovative they feel funny, saying it doesn't applicable in Nagaland...But what I feel is 'we needed to fill up the generation gap'...So, why not make a start?
•    No, wat have they fulfilled for us other then filling their own pockets
•    absolutely a big "NO" they r jst giving a deaf ear to the present younger naga generation...
•    Jst bcoz the youths are neither kol nor asked by leaders by so kol political leaders regarding any decision making or asking opinion. Tats enough to knw the rest. Its tat simple.
•    no, the blame game between the government and the contractors are about to start....can't wait to vote out the present government and yea, won't be voting for the opposition(corrupt old school leaders) too, we need new fresh young politicians in the land. we need change in the system.
•    NO, they don’t listen to the younger naga generation. This time it maybe a bit considerable because election is just near the corner.
•    NO, cant remember a naga leader concern for younger generation.
•    No. They are not and they never will. Look at the protests! The leaders are making us look like barking dogs at home. No action. I say, until the youths charge the leaders straight with Step Down Policy, no ear will listen. For this I say “Hey Shameful Naga Leaders, step down from your positions if you cant do it. Let the capable youths take up the leadership. We don’t need your years of experience in cheating people. We want action taken for our voices.”
•    No, they claim to be listening but it's done half-heartedly. They still have the notion that we're kids without senses and what not...yes, we may be, and we look to elders for just advices and living examples, but, going by our present tren
•    d, am sure things are topsy-turvy where the younger genx will be unable to cope much longer. And on our part, we're too reckless at times, and become easy prey to temptations especially money, fame, etc. We ought to consider both sides in detail...
•    Well they may be listening which does not hurt them, however expect them to act on what the youths are saying is like asking the devil to become Christian

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say: 47
•    They may not be listening but am sure they can "see" it now. It is a matter of time...
•    Yes, the present government is corrupt. The opposition too is equally corrupt if not more. We definitely need an alternative. Are the new fresh young blood better off? Most of them are simply clever devils and do not walk the talk. Men and women of high moral integrity, God-fearing, principled, competent and forward looking should be identified and supported if we want a change. But for such leaders to be elected, "Clean Election" is the highway. Are people concerned about it?
•    The first thing that can be done is to meet each other half way. As long as they expect the younger generation to act and think like them, and as long as the younger generation expect the older ones to think as we do. We will be lost in translation. Because there is a wide generation gap. They think whatever they do is right. While We know they're wrong somewhere. Which is hampering the growth of our society in every fields. 'YOU COME AND I COME AND WE MEET IN THE MIDDLE' will maybe be the starting point?
•    The powers that be whether underground or overground suffer from the same chronic disease of "Selfishness". This is the root cause of all the major problems in Nagaland. Being selfish, these so called leaders do not see beyond themselves. They hear but do not listen, see but do not perceive, talk but do not practice. Democratic process may be the most powerful treatment for this dreaded disease. The question is: are the youth prepared?
•    It reminds me of a carton caption "a mathematics professor whispering to a young boy..hey son teach me computer and I will teach you maths" Both Older leaders and youngster needs to listen and understand each others!
•    Parallel government in Nagaland. Leaders of one government somehow listens to the young generation though hardly. The leaders of other government doesn’t have business with the young, perhaps they fear.
