As Faith In Action creates Guinness World Records, here’s a lowdown on other feats from Nagaland

The Faith In Action (FiA) Martial Arts Academy in Nagaland entered into the Guinness World Records (GWR) on July 5, for the “highest martial arts kick (assisted).”

In a social media update in July 10, the Academy informed that the FiA team created a new record by kicking the height of 14 ft.5 inches.”

“The highest martial arts kick (assisted) was achieved by Faith In Action Martial Arts Academy (India) on the set of India's Got Talent, in Mumbai. India on 5 July 2023,” read the GWR official certification shared by FiA on its Facebook page. 

In doing so, the team broke an over decade long record achieved in China in 2012. 

According to the GWR’s website, the record in China was achieved by Simon Lass (Germany) on 9 December 2012 by kicking 4.30 metre (14 ft 1.2 inches) on the set of a CCTV (China Central Television) GWR Special, in Beijing, China. 

While Lass holds the record for male category, in the female category, the feat was achieved by Alison Johnson (USA), in McKinney, Texas, USA, on 20 April 2019 by kicking 2.38 metre (7 ft 10 inches).

Mon, 2019: Largest traditional Konyak dance

The largest traditional Konyak dance consists of 4,687 participants, and was achieved by The Konyak Union (India) in Mon, Nagaland on April 5, 2019.

The record was during the Aoleang Monyu Mini Hornbill Festival on April 5 when by 4,687 Konyak women and the GWR officially give the declaration on April 9. 

“The purpose of attempting this record was to showcase the tradition of the Konyak people and to take a step towards conserving their cultural heritage through traditional dance and music,” as per the GWR website. 

Agri Expo, 2013: Largest electric guitar ensemble

According to the GWR, the largest electric guitar ensemble involved 368 participants, and was achieved by Sky Group (India) at Agri Expo, 4th Mile, Dimapur (now Chümuokedima) on January 12, 2013. 

“The event was organised to promote unity and peace in Nagaland. It involved participants between the age group of 11 to 70 years and performed on ‘Knocking on heaven’s door’ song by Guns N’ Roses,” read the GWR description of the event. 

News reports from the event informed that the 368 musicians came from different States of the North East, and they were selected from around 600 participants. The youngest guitarist was a seven-year-old and the oldest was 60.

1993: Largest Rhododendron

The largest Rhododendron- Scarlet Rhododendron Arboreum, had been recorded from Mt Japfü Nagaland and “reportedly reached a height of 20 m (65 ft),” informed the GWR website. 

The website, however, does not have further details of the record. As per other reports, the tree was discovered in 1993 at Mount Japfü, Kohima. 

2020, London: Most ‘Bhut Jolokia’ consumption

In a record which is no longer active, perhaps for safety issue, the most “Bhut Jolokia chilli peppers eaten in two minutes” was achieved by achieved by Mike Jack (Canada) in London on February 29, 2020 by consuming 246 grams (8.67 ounce) of the spicy vegetable locally known as ‘Raja Mircha’ (King Chilli) 

He also holds the one minute version of the same title.

However, a message on the GWR website read: “This record is currently inactive and no applications are being accepted for it.”
