Create a More Inclusive Society

L. Thsidelong Sangtam
Assistant Professor, Baptist College Kohima

“I would love to see our state do away with the opposition-less government in the first place, focusing more on 'Revenue Earning' and 'Thriving Economy' by supporting local businesses, attracting investments, and creating job opportunities for all. Then, there is an extensive list: strengthen community ties by promoting civic engagement, volunteerism, and public participation in decision-making. Education Excellence – to ensure access to quality and inclusive education for every child and promote lifelong learning opportunities. Create a more inclusive society by addressing disparities, promoting diversity, and ensuring equal opportunities for all. Youth Empowerment by investing in programs and opportunities that nurture the talents, aspirations, and leadership potential of the next generation. In addition to that, come up with ways to fight the serious rising unemployment crisis that our society is going through. I would also love to see our State Government focus on Infrastructural Development, building and maintaining sustainable infrastructure to enhance connectivity, safety, and community development in all the districts and not just concentrate on Kohima and Dimapur areas. Another important aspect will be Cultural Preservation, and as a Naga with rich and unique tradition and culture, I feel the Government should spend less on celebration but concentrate more on activities that will nurture and promote the true heritage of Nagaland. Lastly, how lovely will it be to see all factions coming together under one banner positively? Doing away with all the anti-social activity, fighting against each other, public harassment, and random extortion, and start fighting for a common cause, standing tall, uplifting, and protecting the people and the state under one umbrella.”

More Village Roads, Less Village Gates

Yanpvuo Kikon
Founder of Kikonik Tech Pvt Ltd & Kley Enterprise (Westside)

“More work & productivity, less parties, events, jubilees, and festivals. More village roads, less village gates. More education & innovation, less fashion shows and gimmicks. More Korean & Japanese work culture, less Korean & Japanese fashion. More about entrepreneurship, less about government jobs. More independent as Nagas, less dependent on Indian taxpayers.”

Thriving Tourism Ecosystem

Vimeto Vakha
President, Nagaland Tourism Association

“As a proud entrepreneur and stakeholder in Nagaland’s tourism industry, my aspirations for Nagaland 2025 are deeply rooted in its immense potential to become a global destination for sustainable and cultural tourism. With its breathtaking landscapes, rich tribal heritage, and warm hospitality, Nagaland has everything to captivate travellers from across the world. My vision is to create a thriving tourism ecosystem that uplifts local communities, preserves the environment, and showcases the true spirit of Nagaland to the world. Celebrating Culture and Heritage: Nagaland’s vibrant tribal culture is one of its greatest treasures. The unique traditions, music, dances, and crafts of its 17 major tribes form the foundation of our identity. Festivals like the Hornbill Festival have already placed Nagaland on the global tourism map, but I aspire to go further by offering year-round cultural experiences. In 2025, I envision tourists visiting Nagaland not just for festivals but for immersive cultural journeys. Eco-Tourism: A Sustainable Path Forward: Nagaland is blessed with untouched natural beauty ranging from the misty hills to the biodiversity fuels, my vision of eco-tourism as a cornerstone for sustainable development. However, with this blessing comes the responsibility to protect it. My aspiration is to make Nagaland a leading example of eco-tourism, where travellers can enjoy its pristine environment without harming it.”

My Aspiration is to See an Abundance of Development

Chanda Sahi
Proprietor & Administrator, Joyance Pre-School

“I suppose each one of us has dreamt about some version of Nagaland. I obviously aspire to see Nagaland become better than what and where we currently are in 2025. My aspiration is to see an abundance of development and growth which starts by prioritizing basic critical areas such as infrastructure, water resources, education, agriculture, health, and financial inclusion. Where the financial and other resources are not manipulated to serve private goals, but are effectively and ethically managed.”

‘Improve Culture of Road Safety in Nagaland’

Dziesekhrienuo Keretsü
Member, National Road Safety Council

“The Government of India and specifically the Ministry of Road Transport and National Highways have immensely improved the Road Infrastructure in Nagaland and North East. With the improvement in the Road Infrastructure and the increase in the number of vehicles in the state, road accidents have increased manifold over the past 5 years. As a member of the National Road Safety Council, I really wish to improve the culture of road safety in Nagaland, through the following measures: The District Road Transport Authority and the RTO’s in the state should ensure that the issuance of Driving Licenses and registration of new vehicles are strictly as per the law. Nagaland Police and law enforcement agencies should ensure that drunken and rash driving are curtailed, and strict actions are taken against the culprits.”

Educational Advancement and Innovation

Rutho Nyuwi
Program Officer, North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA)

“Nagaland 2025 - a promising era on the horizon! As we transition into the new year, I envision Nagaland embarking on substantial advancements across diverse sectors. Economic Advancement: Given that agriculture constitutes the fundamental pillar of Nagaland's economic framework, I anticipate the state attaining comprehensive food security by 2025, as delineated in the Vision 2025 document issued by the Department of Agriculture. This achievement would not only elevate the economic conditions of the agricultural workforce but also augment the overall economic trajectory of the state.”

Good Governance

Thomas Magh
Chief Spokesperson, BJP Nagaland

“Good governance, just society for common good and a sense of responsibility towards nation-building.”

Develop a Positive and Progressive Mindset

H. Chishi
Journalist

“As we step into the New Year, let's introspect and retrospect, and reimagine our society. Let's develop a positive and progressive mindset to find a common platform to address some of the crucial issues we are facing. Nowhere in the world do we find a utopian society, but at least we can make our society better if we put our heads together. Most importantly, let's not be a fault-finding society. Let's be strong and courageous to appreciate others.”
