Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today said that surveys are being carried out for proper demarcation of the boundary of Meghalaya and Assam.
“Surveys are being done and different agencies are being involved. So, we are waiting for those surveys to be done,” Sangma told reporters.
He further informed that the two state governments are also waiting for the call from the Central government to finalise the border agreement for six out of twelve areas of difference.
Meanwhile, the chief minister will also convene a meeting with stakeholders to discuss the inter-state boundary issue on Wednesday. Political leaders, traditional heads and NGOs will attend the said meeting.
On January 29, Sangma and Assam chief minister Himanti Biswa Sarma had finalised the border agreement at their level on the first six areas of difference.
The six areas of difference under the first phase include Tarabari (4.69 sq km), Gizang (13.53 sq km), Hahim (3.51 sq km), Boklapara (1.57 sq km), Khanapara-Pilangkata (2.29 sq km) and Ratacherra (11.20 sq km).
