ASTD questions violations of SOP

DIMAPUR, JUNE 9 (MExN): The Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) today said that the system for putting returnees in quarantine centers and sending them back to their respective districts has seen “gross negligence on the part of the government machineries.”

A press release from the ASTD President, L Wati Jamir and General Secretary, K Mar Lemtur said that there has also been “total failure on the part of the respective authorities in abiding the SOP issued by the State Government.”

“Such repeated violation of the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) by the authority has deeply disheartened the people of Nagaland and question whether if it was intentionally done,” it added.

It further stated that some returnees have been flouting the guidelines and protocols at the quarantine centers.
“Stringent measures are to be taken so as to avoid any untoward incidents and issues that might crop up between the officials and the returnees in the future,” the ASTD stated.

It meanwhile cautioned that “under the ambit of ASTD, if any Ao individual citizen creates any such unwarranted allegations or defames it’s union’s integrity, that individual shall be dealt accordingly as the union deems fit and proper.”

Meanwhile acknowledging that Dimapur has been shouldering the maximum burden by taking care of more than 70% of the returnees, the ASTD appealed to the people, especially the returnees to co-operate with the doctors, nurses, task force officials as well as the security personnel.

It further expressed the need for more medical personnel in Dimapur by requisitioning doctors from “less burdened districts.”
