Zunheboto, March 12 (MExN): One-day awareness camp on Food Safety and Standard Authority Act 2011 (FSSAI) was organised by Food Safety Mokokchung Zone, CMO office Mokokchung in coordination with CMO office Zunheboto and District Administration Akuluto at ADC Office, Akuluto on March 11.
Orenthung Kikon, EAC Akuluto in a short speech shared on the importance of food safety and encouraged the Food Business Operators (FBOs) to mandatorily obtain FSSAI registration which in turn is beneficial for their business.
C Merenlemba Ao, Designated Officer (Food Safety) gave a short talk on FSSAI and sensitised the FBOs on the correct labelling of food products, the various logos associated such as fortified, organic, vegetarian, non-vegetarian food, BIS, AGMARK, etc. He also spoke about maintaining hygiene and sanitation of premises and personnel hygiene of food handlers and emphasised on gradual shift towards self compliance through food safety management system.
Spot registration for the FBOs carried out after the programme and IEC materials were also distributed, stated a press release issued by District Media Officer, CMO office Zunheboto.
