Kohima, March 30 (MExN): An awareness programme on EVM and VVPT as part of the ‘No to plastic, Yes to Clean Election Campaign’ was held with district icon for clean election campaign on March 30 at PWD Ward II junction, Kohima. According to a DIPR report, delivering a short on the clean election campaign, Kohima district icon, Thejakhrienuo Nakhro stated that clean election has little to do with candidates and more to do with voters. She added that ‘if we want good, responsive people’s government and development, let us come out and vote on April 11 with clear conscience.’ She pointed out that in 2018, the state capital of Nagaland was ranked the 2nd most unliveable city in India and urged the people to stop using plastics on any occasions to save the environment. She appealed the young electors to avail opportunity for a clean election, ethical and inducement for free voting today for better tomorrow where youths are the future leaders to mould and shape a better Nagaland. She also reminded that photo voter slip alone will not stand for identification document. The EPIC or other documents like PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Passport, etc is essential to cast votes. The campaign was organised by Kohima Municipal Council and Music Task Force (YRS), Green Team Kohima and Election Department and various NGO’s, demonstration on EVM was also conducted with the public by Master Trainer, Chubayanger. Welcome speech was delivered by Panchayat Chairman PWD,Neibulie Kiewhuo. Concluding remarks was given by Project Director MTF, Hovithal Sothu. AG Lotha church Choir Kohima presented songs on clean election.
