Wokha, March 23 (MExN): The Lotha Public Organisation (LPO) on Wednesday stated that the Lotha Hoho (LH) was not mandated to take action against the Lotha Baptist Church Association (LBCA). Terming the Lotha Hoho’s disbandment of LBCA as ‘illegal,’ the LPO stated that “The church is a separate entity under God, answerable to God and accountable to God only. LH and LBCA are two totally different bodies with their own set of Constitution and functions.”
The LPO, in a press release, pointed out that “no civil organisations or NGOs have obligation to act as the judge or executioner but they can, at best, act as the mediator to bring peace and harmony.” It said that the LH “while exercising its power by referring Article 371 A read with item 8 of the 16 point agreement has exhibited it's ignorance.”
Meanwhile, the LPO appealed to the law enforcing agency to take necessary action against the Lotha Hoho office bearers “for misinterpretation of Article 371 A as none of the clauses gave them the power to dissolve any religious institutions.”
Further the LPO lamented the “unfortunate controversy that is happening in the community,” and appealed to the church bodies to “exhibit utmost restraint and solve the imbroglio with accommodating spirit and renew the true Christian fraternity to avoid further intensification.”
