Dimapur, November 16 (MExN): The Presidents of the Sand Stockist & Sand Suppliers Union, Chümoukedima, Assam Sand Supply & Truck Owner Association Nagaland and Sand Stockist & Suppliers Union, Dimapur, have appealed for the full cooperation by the general public, district administration, law enforcing agencies, Naga Political Groups and stakeholders to their ongoing agitation banning the supply of sand in Nagaland.
In a press release on Tuesday, the Unions categorically stated that the ban has been called for the welfare of the general populace, who they stated, have been burdened by the excessive hike in the price of the sand by their Assam counterparts.
“We therefore make an appeal to all concerned to bear with the inconveniences caused by the indefinite ban,” it said while alleging “unfair practices and harassment” on the part of the Sand Mahaldar Welfare Society (SMWS) Karbi Anglong.
The three unions had imposed on “indefinite ban on all sand supplies within the state of Nagaland from November 10, 5 am onwards.”
