The annual day of Stepping Stones School was held this evening at the school premises, with Robert Longkumer, Director, Kids Worship Center as the guest speaker.

“No institution can take the place of parents,” Longkumer said, while putting emphasis on building the right environment for the inclusive growth of children.

Stating that there “is a lot of difference between parents being involved and not” whether at school or at home, he reminded the gathering to be supportive in children’s activities.

For this to manifest, Longkumer said “commitment” from the teachers and the parents was necessary.

Drawing from his experience as a teacher, Longkumer also urged the teachers to be patient and inculcate in them the desire to bring positive change in the society.

Longkumer further stressed on setting boundaries in a child’s life, while adding “we need to be consistent” in setting well meaning boundaries to imbibe values like discipline.

“The best gift you can give your children is your time, not mobile phones or Ayahs (nanny).”

While stating that learning to balance was the key in helping a child grow up to be responsible adults, he added “the dynamic leaders (of tomorrow) come from here, from these children.”

“It is very important to allow children to grow up in a spiritual environment, where discipline is born.”

While reiterating that technology will never replace the love of a parent, he also encouraged the gathering to learn the art of forgiveness, whether at school or in the family.

Earlier in the event, Akhono, Administrator of the school acknowledged the parents for always supporting them.

While she said that children should be able to express themselves, Akhono said that as parents and teachers, one should “expect some noisiness and a little disorder from the children.”

“In building our children, we build our future,” she said. Various shows were presented by the students. Nursery girls performed “Girl in the mirror,” the classic “Que Sera” was presented by class 4 students, while class 2 presented “New version of an Old Classic.”

“Good vs Evil” was presented by students of class 3. “Over the deep blue sea” was presented by UKG boys, while toddlers presented Zumba and many more acts.
