BJP the changing Face of Indian Politics

BJP is building a broad spectrum of political unity in the country and projecting the nation in a manner for a classless society, to erase out the classified society from the mentality of the people evolving an integral humanism. The party is actively engaged in transforming the economy and society of the country. Equality of development is the hallmark of the party irrespective of BJP ruled or non-ruled states but on the criteria of need-based or underdeveloped areas or region for alround development in the country. Now transformation is put to the front by the government. Because many of the old and outdated system of the congress era which are no more relevant for the fast changing world are being replaced with new system and updated ones which are suitable for all sections of people for efficient management of the country. As a matter of fact, the old congress era has gone and a new Era and Chapter has begun with the BJP, the dominant political player in the country.

Today, the BJP led NDA government is taking manifold initiatives in administrative, economic, social and cultural reforms under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi toward modernisation for the comfort of all sections of people in the country. India’s foreign policy and relationship is taking a new leaf in multi-dimensional form and diplomatic build-up is taking place on positive note with many key countries around the world. Many other reforms are in the pipeline to be taken up. Thus, it is sparing no effort in building peace, tranquillity, and social justice for alround development. Togetherness is the catchword of BJP led NDA government, carrying the caption on the theme as “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” - altogether for development and development for all. The button of good governance is already pressed on and it is working well.

The party has already laid a firm foothold since 2014 parliamentary election and there seems to be no stopping victory in electoral politics either in Panchayat or state elections since then. It all appears that this trend of electoral victory will continue with the good governance in economic and social justice in the country. Taking this momentum of wave building, the BJP appears set to rule for the next 50 years and put India in the forefront of international arena on a firm footing. As because, it appears that BJP will win the 2019 parliamentary election more massively. If that is so, then there is probability that some minor political parties may disappear from Indian political scene. And gradually, the pluralistic political parties may decrease and somewhat more prominent political party may evolve for survival towards a sense of competition. The emerging economy of India is growing strong and becoming one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The pro-poor programme of removing the below poverty line is one of the top agenda of the BJP led NDA government. The fiscal deficit has been reined in at 3.9% in 2015-16. Both direct and indirect taxes witnessed a growth rate of 20% which is unprecedented in the country of independent India. India’s economy surpasses U.K’s Forbes as such UK $ 2.29 and India $ 2.30 trillion.

The BJP always welcome positive criticism for the welfare of the people and for development. However, any criticism must contain constructiveness and a sufficient reason for the realisation of the people to understand their misdeed. Criticism for the sake of political game devoid of value in life is a disservice to the people. All sorts of attempts at trying to fool is a futile exercise. Now Nagas are wise enough to judge whether the allegations are serviceable or if it is just a bluff. Definitely, now Naga people are well aware of the BJP led NDA policies and programmes as because these are people welfare oriented and accepting BJP as a people’s party which sooner than later will take over the helms of state government for alround and equal development.

One can clearly understand that Congress policy has proved to be elusive to tribal people and hilly section of the region be it infrastructurally or attachment of sentiment to the public. Politics should take all people along and party politics have to play a kind of competition in a broad spectrum development and emphasize in action for the welfare of the people. Taking care of the welfare of the people has to be uppermost. The kind of character assassination and the tactics of murder of democracy are to be desisted. There should be friendly politics but not enmity. Spirit of competition has to be on the line of people’s welfare matters. Indian politics has already matured. As such leaders or politicians are to act conscientiously and constructively but not outpouring of anger and abusive words to opponents. Divisive attitude destroys everyone. It does not contribute any good to any one. But this has been the politics of the day. And politicians appear to be enjoying uttering abusive words to opponents. At times they feel it to be a success in their political life.

Corruption in Nagaland is rampant at all levels. How to check this is a big question. But we have to remove it one day. Politicians, bureaucrats and even lower level employees in the office prove no exception. Government after government and there has still been no effort to check corruption in the state so far. It just keeps going on and on. Citizens’ right or villagers’ right of getting a service or getting a scheme of development or project implementation comes across with too many hurdles. The work is left abandoned yet shown on paper but on the ground, zero or it takes a long time to complete the work. Villagers hardly get their due share. The public has to wait for a long time and quality of work is compromised. Seeing all these, BJP is taking all measures to check the menace of the worst disease which is affecting the fabric of the society and its development. The disease fatally affects all. The people are sick - sick of corruption. Due to it the gap between the rich (habitual manipulator) and the poor is increasingly getting wider. That is being called “filthy rich”.

Here at homeland, Naga people are feeling inferiority complex. More than half a century (54 years passed) of statehood and no infrastructural development worth its name. No worthwhile institutions till today except Nagaland University in the mid nineties. Yet the growth is slow. No medical college, no engineering college, no nationalised level institute, no central level research institute in the state so far. Can this be called a step motherly treatment or is it because of visionless leaders of the present and the past or would it be called selfishness with complete lack of concern for the state and the new generation? All these accounted for the backwardness and unemployment problem in the state. Large amounts of resources are thrown outside the state for thousand and thousands of students each year but deprived of the resources for recirculation in the state. Now another question, where is railway? Roads are only one way traffic. That also remains miserable. Inter-district road connectivity, rural road connectivity are very poor and in deplorable condition. Air needle-eyes service is becoming difficult to handle the increasing volume of passengers on flight.

However, with BJP government at the Centre, things started moving forward. The ongoing four-lane Dimapur-Kohima road, new railway connectivity lines in the foothills and Dimapur-Kohima (Secü-Zubza) have been approved. Several major road links are in the pipeline, new or improved airline connectivity service, inland waterways, trade and tourism provisions and package, industries and commerce package are in the pipeline. These employment generated infrastructural development will truly bring the state at par with the rest of India along with the smart city programme of Kohima.

The PM Narendra Modi’s recent All India Radio talk and speech on Doordarshan Kendra on 30th July 2017 regarding the launching of ‘Quit India Movement’ covering a period of 5 years starting from August 2017 to August 2022, the year of the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence begins ‘New India’. ‘Quit India Movement’ has 5 important heads- 1) to remove poverty, 2) to remove corruption, 3) to remove communalism 4) to remove casteism and 5) to remove terrorism. The PM’s radio talk was reaffirmed in his Independence Day speech at the rampart of the Red Fort, New Delhi on 15th August 2017. He also added that violence in the name of faith won’t be tolerated.
