Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Nagaland state launched Kharif crop seeds distribution for Kissan Morcha of Nagaland here at its office premises on May 28.
Speaking on the occasion, Nagaland State BJP President and Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs Temjen Imna Along said that with the drastic change of the world scenario in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic, in terms of economically, agriculturally and sustainability in the whole world, it is not far away when the people of Nagaland shall too be affected in a very drastic manner.
Stating that state government is doing its best to provide and extend its help to the people, he however said “How long we send food grain to the villages at free?”
In this, he challenged the people to go back to the soil, adding that the state should not be always at the backstage of performance in agri and allied sector.
He expressed regret that Nagaland with 16,000 sq. km of fertile hills and favourable climatic condition even depends supply of chilli from other states.
The Minister was optimistic that the kharif crop seeds, which is to be distributed to all the districts by the BJP party soon, would be replicated by all the political parties of Nagaland, NGOs of Nagaland and concerned civil societies of Nagaland in making Nagaland to be a prosperous and self sufficient Nagaland.
‘Get back into endeavour of integrated farming’
Along requested the young men and women of the state wherein they have given up the farming activities and the farmers of Nagaland wherein they sees no prosperity in farming, to get back into endeavour of integrated farming.
“If you want to eat pork, let us rear our own pigs. If you want to eat chicken, let us rear our own chicken and to be healthy we need good vegetables. Let us grow our own vegetables and let us be self sufficient,” he said.
‘Let us give up one meal in a day’
The Minister said that in commemoration of the completion of one year of NaMo 2.0 government on May 31, the state BJP will be launching series of programmes.
In this, the BJP party Nagaland appealed all BJP Karikatas at every level, districts, mandals, morchas that from June 1 to 14, “ Let us give up one meal in a day and give it to someone else who are in need.”
The minister said that he will too do the same in his official quarter in Minister’s Hill Kohima.
“We will cook only one meal a day and we will give other meal to someone or some family,” he said.
