Dimapur, September 1 (MExN): The Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland passed way in Dimapur on September 1. Late Sumi, who was also a former PRO to State BJP President, was appointed as party’s spokesperson in June last year for the tenure 2020.
Deputy Chief Minister and BLP leader Y Patton while condoling the death termed late Sumi as a strong pillar in the party set up and a good and gentle human being. “His selfless contributions to the party will always be remembered,” he said in a condolence message. “On behalf of the state BJP legislators, the Dy CM conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and pray that God will comfort them during the hour of grief,” he added.
State BJP President and Minister Temjen Inma Along also expressed sadness over the demise of party’s spokesperson. In a condolence message, Along termed late Sumi as one of the most active and devoted karyakartas (workers) of BJP Nagaland. “Samuel Sumi was a man of deep faith, a loving father and a loyal husband, who was a loving family man and deeply revered amongst his circle of friends and colleagues - who were fortunate enough to have walked with him in this lifetime. In his passing, we have indeed, loss a benevolent soul. A true gem of a gentleman who is well known for his deep wisdom and jolly nature; his absence shall be dearly missed,” he said, while paying tribute to his former PRO.
“The rank and file of Bharatiya Janata Party Nagaland joins me in conveying our deepest condolences to the bereaved family; and we sincerely pray for the dearly departed Soul to rest in peace,” he added.
The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party spokesperson Merentoshi R Jamir also expressed shock over the demise and described late Sumi as a “man of God and a thorough gentleman. “Prayers for strength and comfort for the family. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he tweeted.
Wokha District BJP Unit also mourned the demise of its “teacher, friend and guide” and called late Sumi a “person of high intellectual power whose life was an asset to the society as well as to the party. "In his demise, we have lost a wise and seasoned leader, a noble soul and a great human being. He lived an exemplary and worthy life and will be dearly missed. Our sincere condolences to his family and all the dear ones,” read a condolence note from the Unit.
