Chennai returnees reach Kohima

Quarantined in Meriema

Kohima, May 23 (MExN): A total of 399 returnees who arrived on the Shramik special train from Chennai to Dimapur on Friday, reached Kohima at around 1:49 am on May 23.


According to updates from the DIPR, out of the 399 persons, 52 are from Kiphire, 37 from Wokha, 17 from Zunheboto, 8 from Longleng, 45 from Phek, 17 from Mokokchung, 50 from Kohima while 173 are from Tuensang. The returnees are said to have been received by Joint Secretary, Border Affairs & Convenor of Reception Centre, Jamithung Lotha; ADC Kohima & Co-convenor of Reception Centre, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa; CMO Kohima Dr Vezokholu and her medical team; and other district and Police officials at IG Stadium, Kohima.


On arrival, the returnees were made to wash their hands at the entry point followed by thermal screening, data entry and other necessary safety protocols, it said. They were then escorted to Meriema Quarantine Centre, Kohima, where they will remain in quarantine for the mandated 14-day period, after which they will be sent to their respective districts for home quarantine.
