Children across Nagaland walk & pray for peace, clean election

Sunday School children join ‘Prayer Walk’ celebrating of 150 years of Christianity in the State

Sunday School children across the state today joined “Prayer Walk” in response to the call by the Christian Education Department, Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) as part of the celebration of 150 years of Christianity in Nagaland.

According to NBCC, children from all over the state participated in the  one-of-a-kind “Prayer Walk” programme, celebrating and heralding 150 years of Christianity and prayed for Nagaland.

As the NBCC prepares to celebrate the milestone from November 19-20, the Sesquicentennial committee decided to let children and youths to be part of the celebration, it said. 

Meanwhile, joining others, the Sunday school children of Christian Ministry, Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima (CBCK) prayed for the upcoming State Assembly election in 2023 and other issues.

Among others, they prayed for a clean and peaceful election without bribery, conflicts and adherence to one person one vote principle. 

Converging at the church premises and streets, the school children expressed gratitude to God for the Gospel that was brought to Nagaland through the Missionaries and for the foresight of “our first grandparents for accepting Christianity and brining a new dawn in our land.”

They also prayed for forgiveness of “our sins and the sins of our state” and also for the Sesquicentennial Celebration scheduled in November, as all Nagas “come together in the bonds of unity and love and the Planning Committee for the celebration of 150 years of Christianity in Nagaland.”

They further prayed for all those who are in a leadership position- Association, Church, State, Town, Village, for them to fear and honor God and to have love for the people they serve.

The teachers were also remembered as those who 'nurture, teach, mold and guide others.'

The gathering also prayed for all the children for “they are tomorrow, our future.” 

Vulnerable and down trodden- the orphans, sick, person with disabilities, destitute, abused etc; nominal Christians; Drugs and alcohol abusers; people of other faiths and atheist etc where also remembered. The children also prayed for the war- torn countries, particularly  for restoration of peace, vulnerable, and victims of war.

In Ahthibung, under Peren, the Sunday School Department of  Kuki Baptist Church Ahthibung  the walk starting from the church premise and ended at the Memorial Park, via Town Square, Hospital Junction, Pu Lengjang statue and waiting shed in Nihei Colony.

 A prayer was held at each stoppage point, which was led by church leaders.
