Observance of World Population Day at CMO, Kohima.

Kohima, July 13 (MExN): As part of the phase-II population stabilisation fortnight from July 11 to 24, the Chief Medical Office, Kohima observed World Population Day under the theme ‘Adopt Family Planning measure and write a new chapter of progress’ in CMO Conference hall, Kohima on July 11 last.
Speaking on the occasion as resource person, Dr Vezokholu Theyo, Chief Medical Officer, Kohima, emphasized on the need and significance of family planning. She highlighted on how India is on the verge of becoming the most populated country in the world by 2023 if proper preventive measures are not taken.
She further elaborated that the responsibility of family planning should not be relied on women alone but how men is equally responsible and should adopt family planning methods like Vasectomy (male sterilisation) etc.
She also sensitized the members present on the different methods available for family planning like permanent family planning methods such as Vasectomy for men and Tubectomy for women. Temporary methods like Copper-T, Condom, Oral Contraceptive, PPIUCD, IUCD-380A & 375.
Highlights were also made on the various compensation provided by the government on availing the following family planning methods from any government district hospitals: Rs 2000 for Tubectomy (Interval & Post Abortion), Rs 3000 for Post-Partum Sterilisation, Rs 300 each for PPIUCD & PAIUCD and Rs 3000 for Vasectomy.
