Conservation prog on Blyth’s Tragopan held

Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): In commemoration of week 52 of the ongoing ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsay,’ the Nagaland Zoological Park in collaboration with the Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi celebrated the ‘awareness and conservation programme on Blyth’s Tragopan’ on March 10. 

It was reported in a press release by the Director of Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar that during the event, Aochuba, IFS, Director of Intanki National Park called upon the gathering of school students and teachers from Beanstalk School, Lengrijan on the importance of the species in focus ‘Blyth's Tragopan’ and its conservation. He also spoke about identifying the state bird and state animal of Nagaland and the important role students can play in the combined efforts of the department and public towards the protection and conservation of wildlife across the state.

An online painting competition was organised on the theme ‘State Bird of Nagaland.’ The winners were felicitated with certificates and cash rewards in this regard. Dr C Zupeni Tsanglai also interacted with the students on the awareness and conservation of wildlife.
