Cotpa flying squad conducts raid in Wokha

WOKHA, NOVEMBER 15 (MExN): The COTPA flying squad team led by ASI Nzanbemo Kikon from PS Wokha, along with the staff of the National Tobacco Programme (NTCP), Dobashi (DBs) from District Administrative and Women Police personnel Wokha, conducted an enforcement drive/raid on selling tobacco products near educational institutions in Wokha on November 15.

During the raid the team penalized 6 defaulters for selling tobacco products and seized the tobacco products from the shops falling within the restricted areas. The defaulters were penalized with a fine of Rs 200. The team will be frequently conducting such kinds of raids in the coming days also, informed a report from the DIPR. Further shopkeepers were directed to abide by the COTPA Act and warned that necessary legal action shall be initiated as per the provision of the Law.

The seized tobacco products were destroyed the same day at Police Station Wokha premises in presence of all the flying squad members.
