COVID-19:  Nagaland logs 10 new cases, fifth death in July

Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): Nagaland, on July 24, registered 10 fresh positive COVID-19 cases while the State recorded 5th fatality from the virus in July with another death from Dimapur on Sunday.  

With this, the active cases increased to 92 on Sunday while the total caseload rose to 35,693, official data from the State health department informed. As per the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) , Department of Health and Family Welfare Nagaland’s daily COVID-19 bulletin, with  10 samples testing positive out of 47 assessed, the sample positivity rate on Sunday stood at 21.28%.  

New cases were detected at Dimapur (2); Kohima (3), Mokokchung (4) and Phek (1).

Meanwhile, the state also recorded 7 recoveries on July 24 taking the total recovered patients to 33,335.  The recoveries included 5 in Kohima and 1 each in Dimapur and Zunheboto. 

In a concerning note, however, the state recorded 5th death from COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the total toll to 762. Officially, 5 deaths are recorded as “Non-Covid deaths with COVID-19 positivity.”

There was also one patient in Intensive Care Unit (on ventilator) in Dimapur out of the 92 active cases in the state, while 4 were designated as “moderate on oxygen.”

A total of 37 were asymptomatic while 49 were informed to be showing ‘mild’ symptoms. 

As per the Nagaland COVID-19  Dashboard, from March-July 22, the state recorded 5 deaths from COVID-19.  With the addition on one each on July 23 and 24, the total has increased to 7, with 5 from July alone.
