Dimapur, May 28 (MExN): The Commissioner of Police (CP) Dimapur, who also serves as the Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO), today informed that all foreigners visiting Nagaland must mandatorily register themselves with the FRO of the State or District they visit within 24 hours of their arrival.
Those staying in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland districts, regardless of age or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card status, are required to both obtain a Protected Area Permit (PAP) and register with the FRO Dimapur, it stated.
Accordingly, it advised all government departments, tourist guides, travel agents, hotels, lodgings, institutions, organisations, and others facilitating visits of foreign nationals to ensure that PAPs are mandatorily obtained by their clients or guests prior to arrival in Nagaland.
The advisory follows the Union Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MHA) withdrawal of the earlier relaxation granted to Nagaland under the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order, 1958.
The relaxation, made through Circular No. 579 dated December 16, 2022, was revoked via Circular No. 602 dated December 17, 2024, due to growing security concerns in border areas, and the entire area of the State is again covered under the PAP regime, it noted.
Apart from the registration requirement for all foreigners, nationals of Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan, as well as foreign nationals of origin from these countries, must obtain prior approval from the MHA before visiting Nagaland, the advisory added.
For queries regarding visits or stays in Chümoukedima, Dimapur, and Niuland districts, citizens may contact the Office of the Commissioner of Police cum FRO, Dimapur, via email at fro-nadpr@nic.in or mobile number 7085065056.
