Dimapur, June 18 (MExN): The Chogin Range Public Organisation (CRPO) has expressed shock on learning about the ultimatum served to the Rengma Nagas living in the present Karbi Anglong, the then Rengma Naga Hill in Assam to quit their ancestral land by the Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT).
A press release by CRPO claimed that following the ultimatum, hundreds of innocent Rengma Naga public including women and children had fled from their villages out of fear for their lives and now taking refuge in different locations.
“This act of inhuman threat to the innocent civilians, whatever may be the cause is a total violation of human rights and cannot be tolerated in the present civilized society which should be condemned by all right thinking people,” it stated. Therefore, the CRPO has appealed the Karbis in general and KPLT in particular to immediately withdraw their ultimatum, so as to maintain “the age-old good neighbourly relationship that existed between the Karbis and the Rengma Nagas before the situation turn ugly and spiral out of control.”
